Eligibility depends on your BMI, medical history, current medicines, previous treatment and any weight-related health conditions.
Different treatments have different suitability criteria, so every patient is assessed individually by a qualified clinician before treatment is prescribed.
You must be aged 18 or over to use our service.
How does the Puri Pharmacy weight management service work?
Start by completing our confidential online health assessment.
A clinician will review your medical history, current medication and weight-management goals. If appropriate, we may arrange a remote or face-to-face consultation before recommending a treatment plan.
Your care can include regular reviews, weight monitoring, lifestyle and nutritional support, blood testing where appropriate and ongoing clinical support.
Can I switch to Puri Pharmacy from another provider?
Yes.
If you are already receiving weight-management treatment elsewhere, we can assess whether transferring your care to Puri Pharmacy is appropriate.
We may ask you to provide evidence of your current treatment, dose and prescribing history before treatment is continued.
How quickly could I lose weight?
Weight loss varies considerably between individuals.
Your progress depends on factors such as your starting weight, treatment response, nutrition, activity levels, adherence and overall health.
Rather than promising a specific result, your clinician will monitor your progress and review whether your treatment plan remains appropriate.
What support do I receive after starting treatment?
Our service focuses on ongoing clinical care rather than simply supplying medication.

What happens when I reach my target weight?
Reaching your target weight is not necessarily the end of your care.
Your clinician can work with you on an appropriate maintenance plan, which may involve changes to treatment, nutrition, physical activity and ongoing monitoring.
Our aim is to help you maintain your progress, not simply reach a number on the scales.
Do I need a GP referral?
No.
You can access our private weight-management service directly without a GP referral.
In some cases, your clinician may recommend contacting your GP or obtaining additional medical information before prescribing treatment.
What is the difference between NHS and private weight management treatment?
NHS weight-management treatment is funded by the NHS, and access depends on national and local eligibility criteria and available services.
Puri Pharmacy provides a private clinical service that patients pay for directly.
You do not normally need an NHS referral, but you will still need to complete a clinical assessment, and treatment will only be prescribed where it is considered safe and appropriate.

What happens if I experience side effects?
Contact our clinical team if you experience side effects or have concerns about your treatment.
We can review your symptoms and determine whether additional advice, a dose change, treatment review or another course of action is appropriate.
For severe symptoms or a medical emergency, seek urgent medical assistance through NHS 111 or call 999 where appropriate.
Can weight loss treatment interact with my other medicines?
Yes.
Some medicines and medical conditions can affect whether a particular treatment is safe or suitable.
Your clinician will review your current medicines and relevant medical history before prescribing. Always tell us about prescription medicines, over-the-counter products and supplements you are taking.
Do I need blood tests before starting?
Not everyone requires blood testing.
However, your clinician may recommend blood tests if they would help assess your general or metabolic health, investigate symptoms or determine whether treatment is appropriate.
Where clinically indicated, Puri Pharmacy can arrange blood testing as part of your care.
Do I have to visit the pharmacy?
Not always.
Suitable patients can access parts of the service remotely, while face-to-face consultations are also available through Puri Pharmacy.
Your clinician may recommend an in-person assessment, measurements or blood testing where this would improve the safety or quality of your care.
Can I stay on treatment long-term?

Can I stop treatment whenever I want?
Yes.
You can choose to stop treatment, although we recommend discussing this with your clinician first.
