Our Approach to Medical Weight Loss Support at Puri Pharmacy
Get our latest weight-loss and health guides straight to your inbox.
If you are comparing private weight loss services, price is likely to be one of your first questions. It should also lead to another: what care will I receive for that price?
At Puri Pharmacy, our approach brings together clinical assessment, ongoing review and practical support with the everyday challenges of managing your weight. We offer face-to-face care in Southall and Hillingdon, West London, alongside remote consultations for patients elsewhere in the UK, subject to suitability.
Our service is designed for people who want a clinical team involved in their progress, with opportunities to discuss concerns and understand the next steps. Here is how that approach works, and how to assess the value of the care you are paying for.

We start with your health and your goals
So what is medical weight loss support? Your weight is one part of the assessment. Your medical history, current medicines, previous attempts to lose weight and relationship with food also matter.
An initial consultation gives us the opportunity to understand what you want to achieve, what has made weight management difficult and whether medical treatment is appropriate. We consider relevant health conditions, potential risks and the information needed to make a prescribing decision.
You can expect a discussion about your goals and realistic expectations. If we need more information or assessment, we explain why.
Completing an eligibility questionnaire is a starting point. It does not guarantee treatment or replace an individual clinical assessment.
Clinical decisions are made around your circumstances
If treatment is appropriate, the plan needs to take account of your health, your response and how well you tolerate it. A request for a change does not automatically mean that change is suitable.
During a review, it is useful to discuss more than your latest weight. How are you eating? Are you managing your usual activities? Have you developed symptoms? Is the plan practical for you?
Those answers help inform the next clinical decision. Depending on the circumstances, the right next step may be to continue, reassess, change the plan or arrange further medical advice.
Our responsibility is to explain those decisions clearly and keep your care appropriate as your circumstances change.
Support continues between consultations
Questions often arise as you go about daily life. You may be unsure about a symptom, struggling to eat regularly or wondering whether a change in your progress needs attention.
Our approach includes ongoing contact and clinical review, with digital support through Aide Health to help you stay engaged between appointments.
Through Aide, patients can record progress, complete check-ins and access health education. Sharing this information gives the team useful context as we review your care.
Digital support works best when you use it consistently. Completing check-ins and telling us about changes helps us understand what is happening beyond a single consultation.
Check-ins are not an emergency service. If you have urgent symptoms, seek urgent medical advice rather than waiting for a routine response.

Nutrition and everyday habits are part of the conversation
Weight management needs to fit into your life. Food preferences, work patterns, family responsibilities and activity levels all influence what is sustainable.
We provide practical nutrition guidance as part of our approach. Discussions may cover regular meals, protein-containing foods, fibre, hydration and ways to maintain a varied diet. The aim is to help you build habits you can use beyond the next appointment.
Activity also matters. Where appropriate, we discuss achievable movement and strengthening activities that suit your health and ability.
NICE recommends using medicines for weight management alongside dietary changes and increased physical activity, with advice and support. That is why lifestyle discussions belong within medical weight-management care. [1]
General guidance is different from specialist dietetic care. If your needs require more specialist input, we should identify and discuss that.
We consider progress beyond the scales
Weight changes are useful to track, but they do not answer every question about your health or how you feel.
We also want to understand your eating patterns, day-to-day functioning, treatment tolerance and ability to follow the agreed plan. These conversations help make your reviews more meaningful.
Where appropriate, we may discuss additional in-person assessment, body-composition monitoring, or blood testing. These are not automatically necessary for every patient, and more tests do not automatically mean better care.
Any additional service should have a clear purpose. Ask what it will help assess, whether it is included in your plan and what it costs before booking.
In-person weight-loss support in Southall and Hillingdon
Some people value sitting down with a healthcare professional to discuss their concerns face to face.
Puri Pharmacy offers that option through our Southall and Hillingdon branches. Our locations may also be convenient for patients travelling from Hayes, Uxbridge, Ealing and surrounding West London areas.
Face-to-face appointments let you ask questions directly and discuss any appropriate assessments. Patients elsewhere in the UK can enquire about remote care; we consider suitability and any need for an in-person assessment individually.

Why our service may cost more than some alternatives
Private weight-management prices can be difficult to compare. Different providers may charge separately for consultations, ongoing support, delivery or additional assessments.
Our pricing reflects an approach that includes clinical involvement and support throughout your care. The value lies in understanding your circumstances, reviewing your progress and helping you act on the information you receive.
When comparing options, ask each provider:
| Question | What to establish |
|---|---|
| Who assesses and reviews my care? | The qualifications and responsibilities of the professionals involved. |
| How do ongoing reviews work? | What is reviewed, how reviews are arranged and what they cost. |
| How can I contact the team? | Available channels, support hours and expected response times. |
| What support is included? | Whether digital tools, nutrition guidance and consultations form part of the quoted price. |
| What costs extra? | Charges for tests, additional appointments, delivery or other services. |
| What happens if my needs change? | How reassessment, referral and longer-term planning are handled. |
A higher price alone does not prove better care. You should be able to understand exactly what you are paying for and decide whether that support meets your needs.
At Puri Pharmacy, we encourage you to discuss the service and current fees with us before committing. Ask how the support described here applies to your proposed plan and whether any additional charges apply.
We discuss the longer-term plan
Your priorities may change as you progress. You may want to discuss maintaining your weight, changing your plan or stopping treatment.
These decisions deserve a clinical conversation. We discuss the next steps in the context of your progress, health and circumstances, including whether further support or referral is appropriate.
NICE recommends advice and support for people stopping weight-management medicines to help maintain changes and improve health and wellbeing. [2]
No provider can guarantee a particular result or permanent weight maintenance. You should expect a clear explanation of your options and realistic planning.
Frequently asked questions
Can I speak to someone before deciding?
Yes. You can book a consultation to discuss your goals, medical history and whether our service is suitable for you. We can’t guarantee that we’ll recommend treatment.
How much is an in-person new-starter consultation?
An in-person new-starter consultation booked through our calendar costs £25. If you proceed with treatment, we deduct this fee from your treatment cost. If you do not proceed with treatment, we do not refund the consultation fee.
Can I transfer from another weight-loss provider?
You can enquire about transferring your care. We need to review your treatment history, current situation and relevant supporting information before agreeing a plan. Continuing the same treatment or dose is not guaranteed.
Do all patients need blood tests or body-composition scans?
No. We consider additional assessments based on individual need. If we recommend one, we explain its purpose and any associated charge.
Is remote support available outside West London?
Yes. We offer remote consultations for patients elsewhere in the UK, subject to suitability. Some circumstances may require an in-person assessment or input from another healthcare professional.
Will I receive a guaranteed weight-loss result?
No. Results vary. We focus on appropriate clinical decisions, useful support, and a plan that accounts for your individual circumstances.
