DESTINATION FIRST

Wherever you’re heading, start with the details.

There is no single vaccination checklist for a whole continent. The country, route, length of stay and type of trip all matter. Use the official country guides below to prepare questions for your consultation.

UNDERSTAND YOUR OPTIONS

Which travel vaccinations might you need?

Your clinician will review routine vaccinations alongside travel-specific risks. Browse the vaccination table and individual guides to understand the options and prices. Your itinerary and medical history determine what is appropriate; you do not need every vaccination listed.

Hepatitis A & typhoid

These infections can spread through contaminated food or water. Vaccination advice depends on your destination and circumstances; food and water precautions still matter.

Tetanus, diphtheria & polio

Previous routine doses and your travel plans help determine whether any further vaccination is appropriate. Bring your records if you have them.

Hepatitis B

Your itinerary, potential exposure and previous doses inform the assessment. The timing of any recommended course needs to fit your departure date.

Rabies

Activities and access to medical care can influence pre-travel advice. A bite or scratch still needs urgent medical assessment, even after pre-travel vaccination.

Japanese encephalitis & tick-borne encephalitis

These are separate infections with different geographical risks. Location, season, outdoor activities and duration of travel help guide the discussion.

Yellow fever & certificates

Both Puri Pharmacy Southall and Puri Pharmacy Hillingdon are designated yellow fever vaccination centres. Contact either branch about vaccination and certificate requirements. Suitability is assessed at your consultation.

For background information, see NHS travel vaccination guidance and the TravelHealthPro country recommendations. Recommendations and entry requirements can change.

VISITING FRIENDS & FAMILY

A familiar destination still deserves a fresh plan.

Going back to a country you know well can mean longer stays, family meals and time outside tourist areas. Those details matter when planning travel health.

Do not assume that growing up somewhere gives you lasting protection against malaria. Children born in the UK may have different health risks and vaccination needs from their parents.

Tell the clinician where you will stay and each traveller’s age. Read NaTHNaC’s advice for visiting friends and relatives.

PLAN AHEAD

When should you arrange your consultation?

Aim for at least four to six weeks before travel. Some vaccinations need more than one dose or time for protection to develop. Seek advice earlier if you have a complex medical history.

Read the NHS advice on timing.

Travelling in days, not weeks?

It is still worth seeking advice. Call with your destination and departure date so the team can check what may be possible.

Short-notice care depends on suitability, stock and appointment availability. It may not be possible to complete a course or establish protection before departure.

WHAT TO EXPECT

From travel plans to your next step.

1. Arrange your consultation

Book online using the calendar below, or call your preferred branch for help. Have your destination, departure date and the ages of the travellers ready.

2. Discuss your options

The clinician reviews your itinerary and health history, then discusses relevant prevention, vaccination options, benefits and possible side effects.

3. Agree a practical plan

Confirm any recommended doses, follow-up visits, costs and documentation. Vaccination is subject to assessment, availability and your consent.

BEYOND VACCINATIONS

Remember malaria prevention.

Malaria risk can vary within a country. Depending on your itinerary and health, prevention may include suitable tablets as well as avoiding mosquito bites. Tablets do not provide complete protection.

There is currently no malaria vaccine available for travellers. Read NaTHNaC’s malaria advice and discuss your route during your assessment.

If you become unwell

Seek urgent medical advice for a fever or other concerning illness during or after travel to a malaria-risk area. Tell the clinician where you have travelled, even if you took malaria tablets. Symptoms can occur up to a year after returning.

Do not wait for a routine travel-clinic appointment.

Travel vaccination prices

Travel consultation: £25 per person, paid at booking. This payment is deducted once from the cost of vaccinations you have with us under your agreed plan, including at a later appointment. It is not an additional £25 on top of the vaccination bill. If you receive the consultation but do not proceed with vaccination, £25 pays for the consultation delivered.

Explore our vaccination guides below, or use the full price list to compare example course totals. Prices are per dose; your clinician will confirm the doses you need and your total before you proceed.

Other private vaccinations

Example: an £85 vaccination leaves £60 to pay after your £25 consultation payment. The credit applies once to your agreed vaccination plan, including vaccinations at a later appointment. Stock and eligibility are checked individually.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Travel clinic FAQs

Ideally, seek advice at least four to six weeks before departure. Some vaccinations require a course and time for protection to develop. If you have a complex medical history, allow longer. Travelling sooner? Contact the branch to discuss what can still be arranged.

Call with your departure date and destination. Appointment availability, vaccine stock and clinical suitability must be checked first. A short-notice consultation can still be useful, but it cannot guarantee completion of a course or protection before departure.

Tell the branch each child’s age and destination before arranging an appointment. Age eligibility depends on the vaccine and the branch’s clinical service. Confirm availability and consent arrangements before attending.

Bring the names and dates of previous doses, including records from another clinic. Your clinician will check what remains relevant for this trip and whether further doses are appropriate. You do not need to choose a new course yourself.

Ask for advice early and disclose pregnancy, breastfeeding, immune-system conditions, allergies and all medicines. The benefits and risks need individual assessment; some options may be unsuitable. Your GP or specialist may need to be involved.

Some travel vaccinations are available free through GP surgeries following assessment, including hepatitis A, typhoid, cholera and polio as part of a combined vaccine. Others are usually private. Check your GP’s provision and ask Puri Pharmacy for the relevant private fees before agreeing to treatment.

BEFORE YOU PACK

Tell us where you’re going. Let’s plan the next step.
