Common symptoms and what to record
The UK patient leaflet lists digestive symptoms including nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation and abdominal pain. Symptoms can improve over time, but persistent or worsening problems should be reviewed rather than assumed harmless.
Record the start date, severity, recent dose changes and whether you can eat and drink. Include other medicines and any advice already received. This helps your clinician decide what needs checking.
Other effects and individual risks
Hair loss and injection-site reactions should not simply be grouped under “rare”. Frequency categories differ by effect and the population studied; check the current leaflet. Tell your prescriber about previous pancreatitis, significant digestive problems and your other medicines.
A symptom appearing during treatment does not prove its cause. Avoid diagnosing yourself from another person’s experience or changing the dose without advice.
Practical steps for a treatment review
Describe what you can manage day to day. Ask about suitable food, fluids or symptom treatment in your circumstances, particularly if you have a prescribed fluid restriction. Agree who to contact before the next planned dose when symptoms remain troublesome.
When routine follow-up is not enough
Severe, persistent abdominal pain, which may spread to the back, needs immediate medical assessment. The leaflet says to stop using Mounjaro and contact a doctor straight away if pancreatitis is suspected. Call 999 for difficulty breathing, swelling of the tongue or throat, or collapse suggesting a severe allergic reaction.
Seek prompt clinical advice for ongoing vomiting, inability to keep fluids down, markedly reduced urination, jaundice or other concerning symptoms. Do not wait for a routine booking or digital check-in response.
