ECG Screening for Football Clubs: How to Arrange a Screening Day

Arranging ECG screening for your football club starts with a practical question: how can you make it accessible to participants while providing privacy, appropriate clinical review and clear next steps?
Puri Pharmacy offers club screening using a portable 12-lead ECG system, with a UK cardiologist reviewing recordings through the Cardiologic pathway. Here is what club organisers need to know.
What does club ECG screening involve?
Participants complete a questionnaire covering relevant symptoms, medical history and family history. We review individual suitability before recording the ECG.
We then send the recording to a cardiologist for interpretation. Recording an ECG and receiving a reviewed result are separate stages; we confirm reporting arrangements before booking.
Who can take part?
Players, coaches, referees and volunteers can enquire about screening. Tell us the approximate ages of your participants and how many there are.
Confirm age eligibility, individual suitability, and arrangements for under-18s before an event. Participation is voluntary, with appropriate consent required.
Anyone with symptoms or a concerning family history should seek medical advice rather than simply waiting for a club event.
What does the club need to arrange?
Start by providing:
- Your club name and location.
- Estimated participant numbers and ages.
- Preferred dates.
- Information about a suitable private room.
Privacy matters because participants need to expose their chest for electrode placement. We discuss the venue requirements and appointment arrangements before confirming the event.
How much does screening cost?
Puri Pharmacy’s club screening costs £37 + VAT per participant, including a resting 12-lead ECG and UK cardiologist reporting.
For planning purposes:
- 20 participants: £740 + VAT.
- 30 participants: £1,110 + VAT.
- 40 participants: £1,480 + VAT.
We confirm event arrangements and any additional charges before booking. Further investigations, specialist consultations and treatment are not included.
What should organisers understand about results?
Clinical results are confidential and are not automatically supplied to the club. Any sharing follows the applicable consent and clinical information-sharing arrangements.
Screening is not a fitness-to-play certificate. A normal ECG does not rule out every heart condition, and an unusual result may require further assessment before its significance is clear.
Our work with Southall FC
